About

Becky Schofield was born and raised in North London and has had a fascination with languages for as long as she can remember.

After completing her BA studies at the University of Cambridge in Modern and Medieval Languages, in which she also holds an MA Cantab, she has gone on to work in a number of fields, including tech, ecommerce and project management. However, thanks to her passion for medieval literature and a very formative year at a boutique law firm in Madrid, she found herself unable to give up her first love: translation.

Following an internship in the English section of the Verbatim Reporting Service at the United Nations Headquarters, Becky has regularly returned to New York City to pursue her career as a linguist. Her experience in that unique field and interest in audiovisual translation has led her to branch out into other areas such as subtitling, transcription, proofreading and copy writing and editing.

Becky’s working languages are French and Spanish. She has also previously studied Catalan and is currently learning Russian.

In her spare time, Becky trains and performs with Cheer New York, a non-profit organization that fundraises for organizations advocating for LGBTQIA+ rights. She also practices yoga and loves to cook and do puzzles at home with not much help from her rescue cat, Trixie.
